Lesson Plans for 8th grade ELAWeek of November 5-9
Monday, 11/5/12
Procedure:

• Take U3P2 pre-test; correct answers (Introduce words). Assign WW homework
• Check-in regarding Poe Mystery Project--discuss next week's voting & deadlines
• Distribute Miracle Boys Pre-reading handouts--think, pair, share.

HW:

• Mystery Project due by Friday after school:
  • Each group needs to bring in one shoe box or one tissue box to be used to collect their group's votes next week.
  • Investigation Report must be displayed with project --due Friday
  • Action Plan--due Friday
  • Summative Reflection Form-- due before Tuesday, 11/13/12
  • Any students interested in staying after school Friday to make & hang up posters, and create ballot boxes (for next week's campaign), may plan to be picked up around 3:45pm.
• Word Wisdom pages 56-58 due Wednesday; pgs. 59-60 due Thursday; Prepare for Posttest on Friday.
• Be sure to bring Miracle Boys by Jacqueline Woodson to class tomorrow!!!

Tuesday, 11/6/12
Procedure:

• Receive Study Guides for Chapters 1-2 of Miracle Boys
• Begin reading Chapters 1 + 2 in class

HW:

• Finish reading and/or completing study guides for chapters 1 + 2
• Word Wisdom pages 56-58 due Wednesday; pages 59-60 due Thursday; posttest Friday
• Project--done by Friday!!!

Wednesday, 11/7/12
Procedure:

• Check WW homework for completion
• Discuss Chapters 1 + 2
• Time to work with group on project

HW:

• pages 59-60 due Thursday; posttest Friday
• Poe project--this Friday!!! Voting begins next Monday!

Thursday, 11/8/12
Procedure:

• Check WW homework for completion---Correct answers together in preparation for tomorrow's posttest.
• Read Chapter 3 of Miracle Boys and complete study guide.

HW:

• Poe Project
• Study for U3P2 Posttest tomorrow

Friday, 11/9/12
Procedure:

• Take U3P2 posttest.
• Set up for Monday's campaign Day 1 & Voting!! :)

HW:

• Finalize any campaign details for Monday!
